(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- H E Ali Javed, Pakistan's Ambassador to Oman, was recently invited to deliver a lecture at National Defence College (NDC), the highest seat of learning for military and civil officers of the sultanate.
The ambassador, accompanied by the defence attaché, was accorded a very warm welcome by the commandant of NDC upon arrival at the premises of the college. On the occasion, both sides appreciated the historical linkages and held talks on furthering bilateral cooperation and exchanges between NDC Oman and National Defence University (NDU) Pakistan.
Commandant NDC accompanied the ambassador for the lecture to the participants of '4th Round of Civil Defense Course for 2016-17'. The ambassador's lecture themed, 'Commonality of Strategic Vision', highlighted the strategic overlap between the two countries' history, geography, leaderships and peoples. The ambassador also highlighted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's policy of 'Peaceful Neighbourhood', promotion of global peace and security through Pakistan's leading contributions to UN Peace Keeping Operations and front-line role in war on terrorism. The ambassador praised the visionary and sagacious leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said as a beacon of hope in the region. He observed that His Majesty the Sultan was appreciated in Pakistan as a leader of peace and prosperity as witnessed through the Omani society.
The lecture followed an interactive Q & A session. The participants exhibited both keen understanding of regional and bilateral relations as well as interest in promoting further the historical bonds between the two brotherly nations and armed forces.
Commandant NDC presented the College Shield to the ambassador and fondly recalled leading a 22-member delegation from NDC to NDU, Islamabad from January 16-23, 2016. He also observed that the occasion of the ambassador's lecture at NDC coincided with the fourth anniversary of the establishment of NDC. The ambassador extended gratitude to commandant NDC for the opportunity to interact with course participants and share Prime Minister Sharif's vision, foreign policy contours and exchange views on bilateral cooperation and exchanges.
