Hamdan bin Zayed honours UAE's most generous donors to ERC

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) Saturday honoured the UAE's most generous donors to the ERC and emphasised that their initiatives enhances the approach followed by the country's wise leadership to promote philanthropy and the values of abundance upheld by the Emiratis who are inspired by their forefathers.

During an honouring ceremony at Al Nakheel Palace, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan said the honorees are inspired by the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who passed away 11 years ago and is will always be remembered for his generous donations and humanitarian initiatives.

The list of the most generous donors to the ERC included Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who was represented at the ceremony by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, who was also represented by .H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative in the Eastern Region, who was represented by Sheikh Hazza bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Undersecretary of the Court of the Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative in the Eastern Region; H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, who was represented by his son Sheikh Zayed bin Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group; Sheikh Zayed bin Surour bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; Sheikha Shamsa bint Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan.

Other honorees include Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs; the inheritors of the late Sultan Yafour Al Hamli; Hamad Saeed Al Khaiili, Mohammed Juma Al Nabooda,; Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtour; Faraj Ali Bin Hamoodah Al Dhaheri; Ghanim Ali bin Hamoodah Al Dhaehri; Hasan Ahmed Ibrahim Al Marzouqi; Abdul Rahim Balghazour Al Zarouni; Majed Mohammed Ameen Al Kazem; the inheritors of the late Nasser bin Math'kar Al Shafi Al Hajeri; and Hasan Abdullah Ismaik.

Government departments honoured for supporting the Emirates Red Crescent included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; Dubai Islamic Foundation; The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment; Investment Corporation of Dubai; Dubai Duty Free; Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA); Nakheel Properties; the Al Wasl Group; DP World; In remarks during the ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed said, "In line with directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His, Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the UAE followed a unique approach to enhance humanitarian and charity work.

The donors, he added, play an active role in reflecting the noble goals of the ERC which is expanding its reach to needy people inside and outside the UAE and has become a major donor both regionally and globally.

He commended the UAE Suqia (an Arabic word meaning providing water to drink) campaign launched last year by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to provide clean water to approximately five million people worldwide.

He also praised H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid for his support to the ERC's projects and humanitarian work in the UAE. He noted that Sheikh Hamdan donated AED20 million to the ERC's campaign " Show Compassion" launched early this year by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed to provide warmth for a million refugees and those affected by the snow storm which hit the Levant.
