(MENAFNEditorial) The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), began its participation at one of the largest annual trade events for the global F&B industry, Gulfood 2014, in Dubai, which kicked off on Sunday under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, at Dubai World Trade Centre
Gulfood is recognised as the world's biggest annual foodservice, hospitality and retail event, hosting 120 national pavilions, of which nine are new participants representing countries from all over the world. Utilising more than one million square feet, the five-day business extravaganza also witnesses the participation of more than 4,500 exhibitors representing international companies and brands in the various disciplines of food and beverages, of which 300 are participating for the first time.
Hamood Al Balushi, director of Omani Products at PEIE, hailed the impressive turnout to the Sultanate's pavilion at Sheikh Rashid's Hall in the expo. Al Balushi pointed out that the participation of PEIE in the expo comes in line with the various activities undertaken by the national campaign of promoting locally-manufactured products (Omani) locally and regionally, in order to raise awareness on the products outside the borders of Oman and attracting consumers from various segments.
The companies and factories taking part under the umbrella of PEIE comprise: Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivatives SAOG, Modern Dairy Factory, Dhofar Cattle Feed Company, Overseas Food Industries, Dhofar Beverages and Foodstuff, Oman Foodstuff Factory, Dhofar Poultry, Nizwa Foodstuff Company, Salalah Macaroni Company, and Health Food Company
