Rob Reiner’s Son Charged with Murder After His Parents Death
(MENAFN) The son of celebrated Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner has been arrested and charged with murder after authorities discovered the bodies of his parents inside their Los Angeles home, police confirmed on Monday.
Investigators concluded that the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner were the result of homicide. According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), early findings identified their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, as the suspect.
Police said Nick Reiner was taken into custody nearly five hours after officers were dispatched to the scene on Sunday at approximately 3:40 p.m. local time (2340 GMT).
The LAPD stated that the suspect is being held without bail. However, Police Chief Jim McDonnell had earlier indicated that bail was initially set at $4 million.
Authorities responded Sunday to the Reiners’ residence in the West Los Angeles area, McDonnell said. Upon arrival, officers discovered two deceased adults — one male and one female — later identified as Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, according to the chief.
Rob Reiner, who first rose to prominence as an actor on the television sitcom All in the Family, later built an acclaimed directing career. His notable films include The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men, the latter earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
Among his most enduring works is the 1984 “mockumentary” This Is Spinal Tap, which satirizes the decline of an aging heavy metal band. A follow-up film, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, was released in September.
