OIC: Israeli Aggression On Qatar Signals Desire To War Expansion
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
DOHA, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hussein Ibrahim said Sunday "the blatant Israeli aggression against the sovereignty of the State of Qatar constitutes a continuation of Israel's expansion of the circle of war, a destabilization of regional security and stability, and a persistent violation of international charters, laws, and resolutions."
Secretary-General Taha made this statement during the pre-summit ministerial meeting for the Joint Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit in Doha, scheduled to be held tomorrow, Monday.
Taha further reiterated the necessity of redoubling efforts to hold Israel accountable for its violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, and for committing crimes of genocide, settlement, and organized terrorism against the Palestinian people.
Furthermore, he called to support efforts aimed at implementing the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly on ending Israeli aggression, occupation, and settlement, and on implementing the two-State solution.
He also commended the valuable efforts of the Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, chaired by Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and his wise leadership of the Committee's endeavors, with a view to mobilizing the responsibility of the active parties in the international community to compel Israeli forces, to comply with international law.
The preparatory ministerial meeting, chaired by Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasem Al-Thani, gathered representatives of the member states of the Arab League and the OIC. (end)
