New Malden K-POP Awards 2025 Concludes With Resounding Success
The New Malden K-POP Awards 2025 successfully concluded on August 30–31, transforming New Malden Methodist Church and the surrounding high street into a vibrant hub of music, dance, and cultural celebration.
Launched in 2024 as part of the New Malden K-POP Festival, the competition has rapidly established the town as a leading hub for K-Culture in the UK. This year's edition was bigger and more vibrant than ever, drawing over 200 applicants, 91 contestants, and more than 1,000 visitors over two days. Proceeds will go toward the creation of the New Malden Art Centre and the enhancement of local infrastructure, ensuring a lasting cultural and social impact.
Winners Announced
Following semi-final rounds on Saturday and the grand final on Sunday, the following contestants were awarded top honors:
1st Place (Group Dance): Dal Segno
2nd Place (Vocal): Neebz
3rd Place (Group Dance): IVIX & NV (tie)
5th Place (Solo Dance): Cherrie
These winners exemplified the exceptional talent, passion, and dedication that define the New Malden K-POP Awards.
Esteemed Judging Panel
The judging panel featured leading figures from the global K-POP industry:
DJ SEOUL TRAIN (Junseok Kim) – UK-based K-POP DJ.
David Anthony – award-winning producer for Red Velvet, Twice, EXO, and Itzy.
Holly – international choreographer and teacher.
JUJU – TikTok dance creator with over 7 million views.
Coco – UK-based K-POP artist, dancer, and choreographer.
Special Performances
Audiences were treated to diverse performances from:
Sofi C, London-based rapper, dancer, and choreographer inspiring young women through music.
Vachte, multilingual London-based singer-songwriter.
Jeung Hyun Choi, master of Korean traditional percussion (Samulnori).
Sungjoon, Korean singer-songwriter blending ballads and indie-pop.
Coco, returning as both judge and performer.
K-POP Village and Community Engagement
Beyond the competition, visitors explored the K-POP Village, a vendor marketplace featuring K-POP-inspired goods, fashion, art, and handmade merchandise.
The event also reinforced New Malden's role as home to the largest Korean community in Europe, encompassing South Korean, North Korean, and Korean-Chinese residents. By providing a safe and family-friendly space, the Awards promoted positive cultural exchange and strengthened community ties across generations.
