India Dispatches Aid Relief To Victims Of Afghanistan's Devastating Earthquake

NEW DELHI, Sept 1 (KUNA) -- India on Monday expressed its condolences at the loss of lives in a devastating earthquake that hit Afghanistan and dispatched relief materials.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, on his official X account, that he "deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to the earthquake in Afghanistan."
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this difficult hour, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured," he added.
He also pledged to provide all possible humanitarian aid and relief to those affected.
On his part, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that he spoke with his Afghan counterpart Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi and expressed condolences at the loss of lives in the earthquake.
"Conveyed that India has delivered 1000 family tents today in Kabul.
Indian Mission is also immediately moving 15 tons of food material from Kabul to Kunar. Further relief material will be sent from India starting tomorrow," Jaishankar said.
Earlier, Afghan authorities announced that a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Nangarhar and Kunar provinces killing at least 812 people and injuring 2800 others. (end)
