Free Book Fair In Russeifa Continues, Aiming To Modernize Public Library, Promote Reading

Russeifa, Sept. 1 (Petra) – The free book fair launched by Russeifa Municipality on Sunday continued Monday at the municipal library, aiming to distribute around 14,000 books across various titles as part of the municipality's plan to rehabilitate and modernize the public library.
Municipality spokesperson Mohammad bin Khatlan said the plan involves upgrading the library building and equipping it with essential resources to transform it into a digital library managed with advanced library systems, providing a safe and conducive environment for readers. The library will be computerized using leading library management software and supplied with computers in the first phase, allowing visitors to read electronically and access advanced digital publishing applications.
He added that the municipality will provide the library with the latest publications across various fields to keep pace with global developments and offer academic references for students and reading enthusiasts in Ruseifa. Khatlan praised the strong public turnout, noting that each visitor receives ten free books during the fair, which concludes on Tuesday.
Library visitors expressed satisfaction with the long-awaited initiative, which offers a modern public library catering to their scientific and cultural needs. Many university students rely on the library for research in their fields, and they called for expanding the facility, creating dedicated spaces for families and students, and enabling book lending for city residents.
