OIC Chief Expresses Sorrow Over Afghanistan's Earthquake Victims

JEDDAH, Sept 1 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha expressed on Monday sorrow over the casualties and destruction which occurred during the earthquake that hit eastern Afghanistan.
In a statement, the OIC chief extended the organization's deepest condolences to the people of Afghanistan during this tragic event.
He revealed that he directed the OIC office to provide all necessary assistance to Afghanistan.
Afghanistan authorities announced earlier the death of 622 individuals and the injury of over 1,555 others in the 6-magnitude earthquake that hit eastern Afghanistan. (end)
