Israeli Attacks Target Hospital in Central Gaza

(MENAFN) Israeli fighter jets launched air raids within the perimeter of a hospital located in the heart of the Gaza Strip during the early hours of Monday, as reported by the Gaza Government Media Office.

In an official declaration, the office stated that Israeli forces bombed tents housing displaced residents within the compound of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, situated near the outpatient department in Deir al-Balah.

The attack led to several people being injured and caused significant structural damage.

This marked the 14th occasion that Israeli military forces have attacked the same medical facility since the onset of what was described as a genocidal campaign in Gaza.

The statement asserted that this ongoing assault indicates "a clear insistence on targeting the health infrastructure and violating international laws that prohibit harming medical facilities and civilians."

The Gaza Government Media Office strongly criticized the continuing attacks on medical centers in Gaza. It held “the Israeli occupation, along with the US administration and complicit states, fully responsible for these systematic crimes.”

The office further urged the global community and the United Nations to take swift and decisive steps to halt Israeli offenses and ensure immediate protection for hospitals and health personnel across the Gaza Strip.

Since October 2023, nearly 63,500 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza due to the Israeli military operation.

The campaign has left the territory in ruins and driven it to the brink of widespread starvation.

In a significant legal development last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
