Chinese President Pledges 2 Billion Yuan Grant To SCO Member States This Year


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday pledged to provide 2 billion yuan (about $281 million) in grant to member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) within this year.

Xi made the remarks at the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO held in the port city of Tianjin.

China will also issue an additional 10 billion yuan in loan to the member banks of the SCO Interbank Consortium over the next three years, Xi added.

China's investment stock in other SCO member states has exceeded 84 billion US dollars, and its annual bilateral trade with other SCO member states has surpassed 500 billion U.S. dollars, according to Xi.آ

Chinese President Xi Jinping also called on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to uphold fairness and justice, saying, "We must promote a correct historical perspective on World War II, and oppose the Cold War mentality, bloc confrontation and bullying practices.

Xi also called for safeguarding the UN-centered international system, and supporting the multilateral trading system with the WTO at its core.آ

Chinese President said that member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should seek common ground while putting aside differences.

"SCO member states are all friends and partners," he said, calling on the member states to respect their differences, maintain strategic communication, build up consensus, and strengthen solidarity and collaboration.
