Baghlan's 3Rd Ghori Cement Factory Construction Kicks Off
KABUL (Pajhwok): Construction of the third Ghori Cement factory in northern Baghlan province has begun, with a total cost of $86.7 million. The factory is expected to produce 5,000 tonnes of cement daily.
At the opening ceremony on Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, said it was a matter of great pleasure to inaugurate a cement production facility in the country.
He emphasised that industrial development is crucial for any nation, noting that countries with factories not only strengthen domestic production but also contribute significantly to the growth of the national economy.
Baradar described the inauguration as a major step towards self-sufficiency in cement production, providing employment opportunities and supporting the country's industrialisation.
He said the factory's construction will cost $86.7 million and is scheduled for completion within 18 months.
Once operational, Baradar added, the factory will meet domestic cement demand, reduce foreign currency expenditure, create jobs and help stabilise cement prices.
At the same event, head of Emirati companies, Mullah Ahmad Jan Bilal, said the new factory represents a key milestone for the country's industrial independence. It will strengthen national production, create jobs for young people, and support economic growth.
He said:“Our resolve is to develop our country through our people and our own will, and based on this determination, we will achieve our goals.”
Baghlan governor, Mullah Abdul Rahman Haqqani, said the factory will bring progress to the country.
He added that countries with strong industrial sectors lead globally, and since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the industrial sector has been steadily expanding.
