Amman, Aug 31 (Petra) – World religious leaders have called on governments and faith leaders across the globe to condemn the genocide, starvation, and destruction in Gaza and to take immediate steps to stop the bloodshed by pressuring Israel to end the humanitarian catastrophe.
The appeal came at the conclusion of the Second International Summit of Religious Leaders, held in Kuala Lumpur under the theme "The Role of Religious Leaders in Resolving Conflicts." The summit was organized by the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office in cooperation with the Muslim World League and brought together 400 prominent religious figures from around the world.
The leaders said the tragedy, which has shaken the conscience of humanity, would not have occurred had international law and humanitarian law been effectively enforced, including mechanisms for accountability.
They urged the international community to press Israel to comply with international covenants and treaties, to work to end the suffering of the Palestinian people, and to guarantee their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state in line with relevant international resolutions.
