KUWAIT, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait, Tuba Nur Sonmez, praised on Sunday Turkish-Kuwaiti relations, describing them as "ideal," thanks to the directives of the political leadership in both countries.
Ambassador Sonmez's remarks came in a speech ceremony marking the 103rd anniversary of Victory Day in Turkey in the embassy, attended by Kuwait Ministry of Defense Undersecretary Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishal Al-Sabah, Commander of the 94th Brigade Saleh Mohammad Al-Aalei, Brigadier General Barak Al-Farhan, and a host of heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Kuwait.
Sonmez expressed her pleasure at the continued development of fraternal relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of defense and related industries, which culminated in the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in May of last year.
The Ambassador emphasized that Turkiye has made significant strides in the defense industry, achieving over 80 percent self-sufficiency.
This has been reflected in the Turkish military's capabilities and extensive progress, adding that Turkey stands out today as "a reliable supplier of defense equipment to our global partners."
Sonmez said that the Turkish military also continues to develop through reforms, planning, intensive training, investment in technology, and the modernization of its institutions.
She highlighted the need to stop the continued killing of innocent people in Gaza by Israeli occupation forces, "which amounts to a horrific genocide," affirming Turkey's support for the generous aid provided by the State of Kuwait and its humanitarian activities to support the Palestinian people.
