Amman, Aug 31 (Petra) – Secretary-General of the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) Maha Ali stressed on Sunday the vital role of young men and women in supporting national efforts to empower Jordanian women and enhance their participation across all fields.
In a statement, the JNCW said Ali made the remarks during a dialogue session with the "Youth Core Network," which brought together active young participants from various governorates. She noted that youth are a key element in the success of national strategies and an essential partner in building a fairer and more equitable future. Empowering youth and women, she added, is a central objective of the Royal vision for political modernization, which seeks to create a conducive legal and political environment for meaningful participation.
Ali explained that the JNCW is working to build the capacities of Youth Core Network members, strengthen their understanding of women's empowerment and gender equality in the workplace and public life, and engage them in programs, campaigns, and initiatives implemented by the commission.
Former Senator Maysoon Al-Atoom addressed the session on gender equality, women's empowerment, and social roles in the national context, highlighting their impact in combating violence and discrimination against women. Meanwhile, Jumana Abu Zaid, an engineer at the National Cybersecurity Center, gave a lecture on cybersecurity and information protection.
The discussion also touched on the role of the recently restructured Youth Core Network, underscoring its leadership potential in implementing community initiatives aligned with the National Women's Strategy and its action plan. Preparations were also reviewed for participation in the UN's annual "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence" campaign, which launches in late November, to ensure active youth engagement at the governorate level.
The JNCW established the Youth Core Network in 2019 to engage young people from across the Kingdom in women's issues through awareness-raising, capacity building, and participation in national campaigns, recognizing the importance of youth as drivers of change.
