Arab Diplomats Meet Mon. Ahead Of Fms' Meeting


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- Arab permanent representatives are set to meet in Cairo on Monday to make preparations for an Arab foreign ministerial meeting on Thursday under the presidency of the UAE, said the Arab League on Sunday.
The meeting comes in the context of the 164th session of the Arab League's Council, which focuses on pivotal Arab issues, primarily the latest Palestinian developments and efforts to recognize the State of Palestine, the league said in a press release.
The gathering will also look into ways of halting the Israeli occupation aggression on the Gaza Strip, Gaza reconstruction plans, political, economic and social support to the Palestinian people, added the Cairo-based bloc.
Furthermore, the agenda covers the latest situation in Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Lebanon and Somalia, along with mechanisms for addressing the ongoing regional challenges with a view to beefing up Arab national security and safeguarding common strategic interests. (end)
