Ethiopia's fire destroy more than one thousands of homes
(MENAFN) A massive fire has destroyed more than 1,800 structures in Ethiopia’s northeastern Afar region, according to local officials. The blaze broke out Thursday afternoon in the Dallol district, devastating homes and businesses.
District administrator Ismail Ali told Xinhua that the fire completely destroyed 600 shops, 950 restaurants, and 255 residential houses. Although the fire has since been brought under control, the cause of the incident and details about any casualties remain unknown. Authorities are continuing to assess the damage and investigate the circumstances behind the blaze.
