
Industrial Production Index Rises 2.07% In First 5 Months Of 2025
Amman, July 10 (Petra) -- The Industrial Production Quantity Index rose by 2.07 percent during the first five months of 2025, reaching 87.29 points compared to 85.52 points for the same period in 2024, according to the monthly report issued Thursday by the Department of Statistics.
The increase resulted from a 2.09 percent rise in manufacturing production and a 5.97 percent increase in electricity production, while production in the mining and quarrying sector declined by 3.48 percent.
On a monthly basis, the index for May 2025 reached 87.95 points compared to 87.3 points in May 2024, marking an increase of 0.74 percent.
Compared to May 2024, the rise was mainly due to a 10.93 percent increase in mining and quarrying output and an 8.26 percent rise in electricity production, while manufacturing output decreased by 0.32 percent.
The index for May 2025 also rose by 2.95 percent compared to April 2025, which recorded 85.43 points.
At the sector level, production in May 2025 increased compared to April 2025 as follows: manufacturing rose by 2.12 percent, mining and quarrying increased by 11.42 percent, and electricity production grew by 8.24 percent.
