Egypt Uncovers Three New Kingdom Tombs in Luxor
(MENAFN) An Egyptian archaeological team has uncovered three tombs belonging to high-ranking officials from the New Kingdom era (1550 BC–1069 BC) in Luxor, according to a statement released Monday by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
One tomb is attributed to Amun-em-Ipet, who held a significant position at the Amun Temple during the Ramesside period. The tomb’s remnants feature detailed depictions of ceremonial offerings and festive gatherings, the statement noted.
The other two tombs are dated to the 18th Dynasty. One belonged to Baki, who managed a grain storage facility, while the other was the resting place of a scribe identified only as S. This scribe held multiple roles, including supervisor of the Amun Temple located in the oases and mayor of the northern oases, the ministry added.
Inscriptions inside the tombs confirmed the identities and official titles of these prominent individuals, the statement concluded.
