Ajloun, Oct. 17 (Petra)-- Ali Freihat - The Ajloun Cable Car has drawn nearly one million visitors since its inauguration in June 2023, according to Director of the Ajloun Development Area, Engineer Tariq Al-Maaytah.
Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Friday, Al-Maaytah said that the number of visitors to the Ajloun Development Area which includes the cable car project has risen this year from about 300,000 to 350,000. This, he added, reflects the project's positive impact on boosting tourism activity in the governorate.
He noted that the Ajloun Cable Car has become one of the Kingdom's most prominent tourist attractions, particularly among Arab visitors. The development areas in Ajloun, he explained, serve as an important economic driver by attracting tourism and environmental investments and promoting local development.
The area features restaurants, cafés, and a seasonal bazaar where local residents can display and sell homemade products helping to support local communities and encourage small enterprises.
Al-Maaytah added that the Ajloun Development Area began with the cable car project as its first phase and has since been developed into an integrated resort where visitors can spend hours enjoying various activities and services.
He further noted that work is currently underway on the second phase of the Ajloun Development Area, which will include hotels, an eco-camp, eco-lodges, adventure zones, playgrounds, and a family park all aimed at strengthening Ajloun's position as a sustainable tourism destination.
