Latvia Donates 100 FPV Drones To Ukraine


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) As part of the public charity initiative "Drones for Ukraine's Armed Forces", has transferred to the embattled nation 100 FPV drones of domestic production.

This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia , Ukrinform saw.

The funds for the purchase of drones had been raised including via a charitable initiative by Latvia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže, who in May 2024 ran the Riga Half Marathon, calling on compatriots to donate to buy UAVs for the Ukrainian Army. Currently, the project co-run by the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia and the Latvian charity foundation Ziedot, has raised nearly EUR 130,000.

"With the coordination of Ukraine's Embassy in Latvia, these drones will be transferred directly to two military units: the 21st Brigade of the Armed Forces and the Fury Brigade of the National Police," the diplomatic mission wrote.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, since February 24, 2022, the Latvian government, civic and non-governmental organizations have provided Ukraine with military assistance worth at least EUR 524 million, humanitarian assistance and support to the Ukrainian government worth at least EUR 71 million, at least EUR 234 million in assistance to war-displaced Ukrainians, and at least EUR 12 million for Ukraine's recovery. Since February 24, 2022, a total of 46,994 Ukrainians have arrived in Latvia, of whom 32,304 currently remain in country.
