Starmer To Scholz: Ukraine Should Have Strongest Possible Position Ahead Peace Talks
(MENAFN- UkrinForm) British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Sunday, stressed the importance of ensuring that Ukraine in the coming months gains the strongest possible hand in order to achieve peace through strength.
That's according to the British government press service, Ukrinform reports.
"The leaders began by reflecting on the progress made between the UK and Germany in recent months, including through the signing of the Trinity House Agreement on defence, and Joint Action Plan on irregular migration... Turning to the situation in Ukraine, the Prime Minister updated on his recent visit and reiterated that it was important to ensure the country was in the strongest possible position in the coming months, so that peace could be achieved through strength," the report says.
The heads of government agreed that Russia's invasion of Ukraine "underscored the importance of scaling up and coordinating defence production across Europe".

In this context, the British Prime Minister announced that the country's Strategic Defence Review would encompass the lessons learned from Russia's war against Ukraine, as well as the need to out-maneuver Vladimir Putin's ongoing aggression and hostile activity cross Europe.
The leaders also discussed Starmer's visit to the EU Council and the reset between the UK and the European Union.
"The Prime Minister said he was committed to strengthening the UK's relationship with the EU to drive greater growth and closer security ties, which he believed would benefit all sides," the press release said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in London on Sunday for talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
