Africa plays critical part in rising new world

(MENAFN) Patrice Lumumba once declared his unwavering commitment to his country's destiny, rejecting subjugation and imperialism, and predicting that history would eventually be rewritten in the nations liberated from colonial influence. This sentiment resonates strongly with Africa's increasing role on the global stage.

In November 2024, I attended the inaugural ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi, following a major summit in St. Petersburg the previous year. The conference marked a key moment in Russia's strategic pivot toward strengthening ties with Africa, focusing on collaboration with the Global South and East.

As a planner, I was eager to understand the perspectives, concerns, and aspirations of African nations. On returning to Moscow, I compiled my insights from years of observing Africa’s development, traveling through the continent, and reading specialized literature. This article aims to highlight the emerging role of Africa as a powerful center in the evolving multipolar world. While I don't intend to cover every historical or cultural detail, the goal is to emphasize Africa's increasing influence and its future prospects.

Africa has the resources, potential, and drive to become a central player in global decision-making, and the continent is already progressing toward that goal. This is not only a strategic consideration but a symbolic one: Africa is the "cradle of humanity," where Homo sapiens are believed to have originated.

The African continent today is a complex tapestry, consisting of Sub-Saharan Africa and the Arab-Berber Maghreb, where the Arab-Muslim and African civilizations converge. Africa’s diverse peoples, cultures, and historical legacies contribute to a unique and shared sense of destiny. This unity, driven by a desire for joint development and integration, lays the foundation for Africa to be a key force in the multipolar world to come.
