Ahmed Al-Sharaa Appointed President Of Syria's Transitional Government

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Ahmed al-Sharaa, leader of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham movement, has been appointed as the head of the transitional phase in Syria.

According to The New York Times on Wednesday, January 29, the Syrian rebels have appointed al-Sharaa to this position, citing Syrian state news agency reports.

Hassan Abdulghani, a spokesperson for Ahmad al-Shara, announced that Syria's constitution has been abolished, and the legislative body and military forces of Bashar al-Assad's Regime have been dissolved.

Although no specific timeline has been provided for this transitional period, it has been confirmed that Ahmad al-Shara will lead the phase.

Following widespread attacks by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham forces on several parts of Syria, the Assad regime fell after more than five decades in December of the previous year.

The fall of Assad's dictatorship marked a significant shift, with the entry of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham members into Damascus, further solidifying the rebels' control.

Since then, Syria has been governed by Islamist rebels, with Ahmad al-Shara at the helm. This leadership change represents a major turning point in Syria's civil war, with the balance of power shifting away from Assad's regime.

The collapse of Assad's government has led to a power vacuum in Syria, which has been filled by the Islamists under al-Shara's leadership.

Experts suggest that the transitional period led by al-Shara could significantly impact Syria's political future and influence regional dynamics.

The transition also raises questions about the fate of remaining loyalist forces and the potential for future negotiations in the region.

While the situation remains fluid, international actors are watching closely, as the fall of the Assad regime has profound implications for Syria and its allies.

The rise of Ahmad al-Shara marks the beginning of a new chapter in Syria's tumultuous political landscape. With the Assad regime's collapse, Syria faces an uncertain future under Islamist rebel leadership, and the international community remains divided on how to respond to these developments.
