Tajikistan Gearing Up To Launch Direct Flights To London

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 29. Tajikistan is set to launch direct flights to London, announced Head of the country's Civil Aviation Agency Habibullo Nazarzoda, during a press conference, Trend reports.

According to him, Tajikistan's Somon Air plans to sign an additional protocol at the end of February 2025 to launch flights between Dushanbe and London, with services expected to begin in 2026.

"The airline plans to open a transit route from Dushanbe to London via Tbilisi. Initially, flights will operate once a week," he said.

Furthermore, Tajikistan plans to roll out new routes to South Korea and Amsterdam within the same year. Come 2025, Somon Air will be taking to the skies with flights to Saudi Arabia. Simultaneously, the regular flights on the Dushanbe-Moscow route are gearing up to make a comeback.

It was also reported that an agreement will soon be signed with a leasing company from Dubai for the acquisition of two new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. These planes are expected to be delivered to the airline between May and August 2025.

Somon Air is Tajikistan's national airline, successfully operating in the international market since 2008, and is the sole airline in the country to be a member of the IATA (International Air Transport Association). The primary function of the airline is international air transportation. The primary airport is Dushanbe International Airport, with Khujand International Airport also in operation. The airline's fleet comprises Boeing 737-800 and -900 aircraft. All have been named in tribute to national heroes and historical personalities of Tajikistan. The airline has effectively conducted regular flights from Tajikistan to 25 countries, notably including Germany, the UAE, Turkey, China, Iran, India, Saudi Arabia, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
