BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. Azerbaijan is
introducing new regulations concerning the food and material
support for foreigners and stateless persons held in the detention
center, Trend
reports.
The regulation was outlined in an amendment to the Migration
Code, which was discussed during today's session of the Legal
Policy and State Building Committee of the Azerbaijani
Parliament.
According to the draft, foreigners and stateless persons held in
the centers are entitled to three free hot meals daily, prepared
within the centers, that adhere to material and living standards
that meet modern hygiene and nutritional quality requirements. The
preparation of meals will take into account the age, health
condition, and religious traditions of the detainees.
The centers are required to provide necessary material and
living conditions in compliance with sanitary, hygienic, and fire
safety regulations. Detention under conditions that undermine human
dignity is strictly prohibited.
Detainees are housed in living quarters with a minimum usable
area of four square meters per person and are provided with
individual sleeping accommodations and bedding.
If detainees lack appropriate clothing, they will receive attire
suitable for the climate, which must be distinct from that issued
to individuals serving prison sentences.
