Türkiye's coastal city of Antalya welcomes 15M visitors in 2024

(MENAFN) As of October 2024, the stunning southwestern coastal city of Antalya has welcomed an impressive 15 million foreign visitors, marking a significant milestone for the region's tourism sector. Hakan Saatcioglu, president of the Turkish Professional Hotel Managers Association (POYD), announced this figure during a recent monthly meeting, emphasizing that the current tourism season has been particularly successful. This number represents a 7 percent increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year, showcasing Antalya's enduring appeal as a prime holiday destination.

The data from regional airport statistics reveals that the largest contingent of visitors this year has come from Russia, with approximately 3.2 million Russian tourists flocking to the city. Following closely behind are Germany, contributing 2.7 million visitors, and the UK and Poland, which account for 1.3 million and 1.1 million visitors, respectively. These statistics underscore Antalya’s status as a favored location for travelers from diverse international markets.

Saatcioglu's insights reflect the optimism within the tourism industry regarding the potential for continued growth in visitor numbers. He expressed confidence that the total number of tourists in Antalya could reach the ambitious target of 17 million by the end of the year. Such projections indicate a robust recovery in the tourism sector and highlight the region's ability to attract and accommodate a large influx of international travelers.

The ongoing success of Antalya as a tourist destination not only benefits the local economy but also reinforces Turkey's position as a leading player in the global tourism market. With its stunning beaches, rich history, and vibrant culture, Antalya continues to charm visitors from around the world, contributing to a bright future for the city’s tourism industry.
