Apple reveals latest version of iPad Mini with AI features

(MENAFN) Apple is set to launch the latest version of the iPad Mini on October 23, introducing advanced technology that will enable artificial intelligence (AI) features. The tech giant has positioned the new tablet as offering "incredible value and the full iPad experience in an ultraportable design," with a starting price of USD499. Pre-orders for the device have already begun, generating anticipation ahead of its market debut.

The new iPad Mini will be powered by the A17 Pro chip, allowing it to run Apple Intelligence and a suite of new features. It will come equipped with iPadOS 18, enhancing its capabilities significantly. In a software update, Apple plans to roll out initial AI features later this month, including enhancements for writing, Siri functionality, and photo editing. Future updates will introduce additional functionalities, such as image creation, custom emojis, and integration with ChatGPT.

In terms of specifications, Apple has doubled the base storage of the iPad Mini to 128GB compared to its predecessor. The device will feature a 12MP wide back camera with Smart HDR 4 technology and a 12MP Ultra Wide front camera. Notably, it will also support the Apple Pencil Pro, catering to creative users and enhancing productivity.

This launch marks the first new model of the iPad Mini in about three years, following the tablet's original release in 2012. Apple's tablet lineup, which includes the iPad, iPad Pro, and iPad Air, has generated USD19.74 billion in net sales over the first three quarters of the year, accounting for nearly 7 percent of the company's total net sales of USD296.1 billion during that period. The introduction of the latest iPad Mini follows closely behind the debut of Apple's iPhone 16 series, which was unveiled a month earlier.
