Nicaraguan leader brands Zelensky ‘son of Hitler’

(MENAFN) Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has unleashed a fierce critique of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, likening both leaders to Adolf Hitler of Nazi Germany. During a speech on Monday commemorating the 45th anniversary of the Nicaraguan police, Ortega condemned Netanyahu’s policies, asserting that the Israeli leader embodies a “son of the devil” for his government’s approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Ortega did not hold back in his condemnation, describing Netanyahu’s administration as one that engages in terror, drawing direct parallels to Nazi practices. He further criticized Western nations, particularly the European Union and the United States, for their support of Israel, warning that their actions could either escalate tensions to the brink of global warfare or lead to their ultimate downfall.

The Nicaraguan president extended his critique to Zelensky, categorically labeling him as another “Nazi” and a “son of Hitler.” Ortega accused Zelensky of attempting to provoke NATO into a military confrontation with Russia, a stance he has maintained in previous statements.

These remarks follow Nicaragua's recent decision to sever diplomatic relations with Israel, a move Ortega justified by accusing the Israeli government of “brutal genocide” against the Palestinian population. This action was formalized through a resolution passed by Nicaragua's National Assembly, which branded the Israeli government as an “enemy of humanity” and criticized its role in perpetuating violence in the Middle East, thus jeopardizing global peace and security.

Ortega's statements reflect a broader trend of aligning with anti-Israel sentiments among some Latin American nations, emphasizing a commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause while condemning what they view as imperialist actions by Western powers. The Nicaraguan leader's remarks have drawn attention not only for their incendiary language but also for their reflection of the geopolitical divides that characterize contemporary international relations.
