BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2. German federal
states are actively strengthening bilateral relations with
Kyrgyzstan, Gabriela Guellil, German Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, told
Trend in an exclusive interview.
"The engagement of Germany in a wide range of fields includes
cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Bavaria. Special dynamics in
Bavarian-Kyrgyz relations have been observed during my three years
of residence. High-ranking Kyrgyz politicians have visited Munich
and participated in discussions with a variety of their
compatriots. Omurbek Tekebaev, the Kyrgyz Ambassador to Germany,
has also conducted numerous excursions to Bavaria, which have
served as a foundation for a more comprehensive discussion on a
variety of subjects, including the tender for Manas Airport," she
said.
The ambassador emphasized that a recent but crucial focus has
been on recruiting qualified labor for employment in Bavarian
companies.
"At present, a substantial number of Kyrgyz students have been
recruited for seasonal employment in Bavaria. Furthermore, Kyrgyz
Au Pairs are currently residing in Bavarian households, where they
are responsible for the care of juvenile children," she noted.
Guellil said that the Cham region in northern Bavaria is
actively hiring young people from Kyrgyzstan so that they can join
the workforce after getting the right training. Twenty people took
part in this pilot project last year, and plans are to raise that
number to fifty this year.
"I believe such initiatives will foster friendships, enhance
skills, meet the labor demands of our industries, and promote
cultural exchange. A delegation from Cham has recently completed a
productive visit to Kyrgyzstan. This is concrete action, and we
will continue on this path," she added.
The ambassador pointed out that there are plenty of areas where
we can kick it up a notch in terms of cooperation. One hurdle is
the need to have a good grasp of the German language in order to
pursue vocational training or find a job.
"The Kyrgyz educational system is mostly responsible for this.
It's critical to look into what Bavaria, and Germany more
generally, can do to lend a hand," she stressed.
Guellil also highlighted the Kyrgyz-German Business Council,
established two years ago, aimed at deepening business-to-business
relations.
All things considered, the ambassador drove home the point that
there are plenty of fish in the sea and fertile ground for
collaboration that perfectly match the top goals of both Germany
and Kyrgyzstan.
