Amman, July 26 (Petra)-- Thousands performed Friday prayer in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of the strict military measures imposed by the Israeli Occupation authorities on access to the mosque.
The Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem estimated that about 35,000 citizens performed Friday prayer inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of the strict occupation measures at the mosque's gates and preventing a number of worshipers from entering.
The occupation forces set up checkpoints in the Old City and at Lions Gate in time for the arrival of citizens to offer prayers, according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA). These checkpoints prevented many young men from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque and attacked them by beating them with batons, which resulted in several injuries.
