Egyptian Minister of Electricity stresses energy security, renewable energy goals


(MENAFN) Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and renewable Energy, underscored the government's comprehensive strategy aimed at achieving energy security and enhancing reliance on renewable energy sources. During an unannounced visit to the New Administrative Capital Power Plant in Egypt, Dr. Esmat outlined key priorities of the electricity mix policy designed to meet the country's increasing energy demand.

Highlighting urgent measures, Dr. Esmat emphasized the plan to reduce power outages, enhance the quality of electricity supply, optimize the efficiency of conventional fuel usage, minimize power losses—particularly within distribution networks—and ensure the sustainability and reliability of the energy sector.

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat further elaborated on the importance of active field management across production, transmission, and distribution sites. He stressed the crucial role of adhering to high operational standards in achieving phased plan objectives during the current developmental phase. The minister commended the New Administrative Capital Power Plant as a leading facility in the Middle East, renowned for its large-scale capacity and innovative air-cooling technology through cooling condensers.

The minister's visit and statements underscore Egypt's commitment to advancing its energy infrastructure, addressing operational challenges, and integrating renewable energy sources into its electricity generation framework.
