Drone strike sets fire to oil tanker in Russia's Rostov region

(MENAFN) Authorities have extinguished a fire that broke out on an oil tanker in Russia's southern Rostov region following a drone strike on Saturday morning, according to regional governor Vasily Golubev. The fire, which erupted in a tank in Tsimlyansky, covered an area of 200 square meters and burned for at least six hours before being brought under control. Governor Golubev reported the incident on Telegram, noting that there were no casualties.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of increased airstrikes by Ukraine on Russian territory in recent months. According to the Associated Press, these strikes have targeted refineries and oil terminals in an effort to hinder the Kremlin's military operations. Meanwhile, the Russian military is intensifying its efforts along the front line in eastern Ukraine, where the defenders are experiencing shortages of troops and ammunition as the war enters its third year.

In addition to the drone strike in the Rostov region, Russian air defenses intercepted two drones in the same area and destroyed two aircraft overnight in the Kursk and Belgorod regions in the west of the country, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday.
