LNG natural gas supply to Freeport confronts interruption amid tropical storm Beryl

(MENAFN) Recent pipeline data indicates a significant 86 percent decrease in natural gas supplies scheduled to reach Texas-based Freeport LNG on Sunday compared to the previous day. This drop suggests potential disruptions in production as Tropical Storm Beryl, currently in the Gulf of Mexico, threatens to escalate severe weather conditions affecting operations.

Freeport LNG had already reported a power outage last Friday following a compressor failure on July 4, exacerbating concerns about operational stability amid the storm. A media company reached out to Freeport LNG for comment, but a spokesperson had not responded at the time of reporting.

The impact of Tropical Storm Beryl has been felt beyond operational disruptions, with reports of severe consequences in the southeastern Caribbean where the storm caused widespread damage and claimed six lives as of Friday. Beryl, noted as the strongest storm ever recorded at this time of year, continues to pose a significant threat as it moves through the region and towards potential landfall, prompting heightened monitoring and response measures in affected areas.
