Turkey to engage in talks with EU over visa, trade, customs

(MENAFN) Türkiye and the European Union are set to embark on their inaugural round of the High-Level Trade Dialogue on Monday, a significant forum aimed at addressing a broad spectrum of issues critical to their bilateral relations. This dialogue, taking place in Brussels, will see Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat leading a delegation from Türkiye, engaging with key figures including EU Commission Vice Chairman Valdis Dombrovskis and other senior commission officials.

Central to the discussions will be efforts to bolster bilateral trade ties between Türkiye and the EU, exploring avenues to expand the existing Customs Union agreement, and advancing initiatives aligned with sustainable development goals and the green transition. These discussions come at a pivotal time as both sides seek to navigate economic challenges and opportunities amid a changing global landscape.

An important focal point of the dialogue will be the facilitation of visa processes for Türkiye's citizens intending to travel to EU member states. Streamlining visa procedures is expected to enhance people-to-people contacts, promote tourism, and facilitate smoother business interactions between Türkiye and the EU.

The dialogue underscores a shared commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and addressing mutual concerns. It reflects both Türkiye's and the EU's strategic interests in deepening economic integration and fostering a resilient partnership that can navigate challenges and seize opportunities in the evolving global trade environment.

By fostering open and constructive dialogue, both parties aim to lay the groundwork for enhanced economic collaboration, ensuring that their trade relations remain robust and mutually beneficial in the years to come.
