Army Intercepts Narcotics-Laden Drone From Syria


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - The Eastern Military Zone thwarted on Saturday, an attempt to smuggle a quantity of narcotics using a drone from Syrian territory into Jordanian territory.

A military source in the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab army (JAF) said that the Border Guard forces in the Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected an attempt by the drone to illegally cross the border from Syrian territory into Jordanian territory.


Engagement rules were applied, and it was shot down within Jordanian territory.


The source added that the seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities.

The source affirmed that the JAF is determined to deal with any threats along the border fronts with strength and decisiveness and to thwart any attempts aimed at undermining and de-stabilising the security of the nation and terrorising its citizens.
