Russian forces announce destruction of drone centers, hostilities in eastern Ukraine

(MENAFN) Ivan Berma, spokesman for the Russian Western Combat Group, announced significant military actions in Eastern Ukraine, reporting the destruction of 12 drone control centers within the combat group’s operational zone. According to Russian news agency, Berma stated that air defense systems and electronic warfare tools successfully neutralized seven reconnaissance drones near several settlements including Vladimirovka, Preobrazhenskoye, Ploshchanka, Turskoye, and Kremennaya.

In addition to targeting drones, Russian forces conducted airstrikes on Ukrainian military positions near Petropavlovka, Stelmahovka, Boguslavka, Stepovaya, and Novoselovka. Berma highlighted that these strikes aimed at suppressing Ukrainian forces and disrupting their operations in the region.

The spokesman detailed that two counterattacks by the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Army near Olgovka were repelled by Russian assault groups. During these engagements, Russian forces successfully destroyed two Grad multiple rocket launchers and intercepted five mortar shells aimed at their positions.

These developments underscore the ongoing intensity of military engagements in Eastern Ukraine, reflecting heightened tensions and continued clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces in the region. The destruction of drone control centers and successful defense against Ukrainian counterattacks are part of broader military strategies employed by Russian forces in the conflict zone.
