On Saturday, PM Modi took to social media
congratulated the Indian men's cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup in the final against South Africa.
“CHAMPIONS! Our team brings the T20 World Cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian Cricket Team. This match was HISTORIC,” PM Modi said in a post on social media site X. He also released a video with a congratulatory speech praising the Men in Blue who defeated South Africa by seven runs.
After winning the T20 World Cup, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli declared their retirements from Twenty20 cricket. In the formal press conference following the match, India captain Rohit Sharma made the announcement of his retirement, whilst Kohli did so shortly after the victory.
