Iran’s Rasht Sardar Jangal airport launches new Basra flight route with Al-Iraqiyya Airlines


(MENAFN) Seyed Mohsen Mirhosseini, the Director General of Rasht Sardar Jangal Airport, recently announced the inauguration of a new flight route linking Basra and Rasht. Operated by Al-Iraqiyya Airlines, this new route marks a significant milestone in the airport's efforts to expand its international connectivity. Mirhosseini expressed optimism about the route's prospects, noting that its continuation would depend on passenger acceptance and demand.

In a statement to an Iranian news agency’s reporter on Thursday, Mirhosseini highlighted the airport's readiness to accommodate international flights, citing its compliance with necessary aviation standards. He emphasized that Rasht Sardar Jangal Airport boasts facilities capable of meeting the requirements for international air travel, underscoring its strategic importance in the region.

Currently, Rasht Sardar Jangal Airport handles a total of 28 foreign flights weekly, including those serving the Basra route. This figure reflects a remarkable growth rate of 1,400 percent, illustrating the airport's increasing role as a hub for international travel. The introduction of the Basra-Rasht route is expected to further enhance the airport's connectivity, facilitating easier access for travelers between Iran and Iraq.
