14 Jordanian Pilgrims Die Of Heat Exhaustion During Hajj - Ministry


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs said on Sunday that the number of Jordanian pilgrims, who died of heat exhaustion while performing Hajj rituals, has reached 14, while 17 others were reported missing.
The ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah said the Kingdom's consulate in Jeddah is following up with the Saudi authorities on the burial procedures for the dead pilgrims or bringing them home according to their families' wish.
Qudah said that
the ministry is following up on the search for the 17 missing pilgrims.
He also said the pilgrims who died were not within the official Jordanian Hajj delegation.
Saudi authorities have advised pilgrims to stay hydrated and protect themselves from the sun, with temperatures reaching 43 degrees Celsius.
