Executive Office releases 2023 yearly report on combatting money laundering, terrorist financing


(MENAFN) The Executive Office to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in the United Arab Emirates has released its inaugural annual report for 2023, showcasing significant achievements and strategic initiatives undertaken to combat financial crimes. The report, issued on Wednesday, outlines the substantial progress made in maintaining the integrity and sustainability of the UAE's financial and economic systems.

The report provides a comprehensive review of the key developments in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing within the UAE throughout 2023. It highlights the contributions of the national system, spearheaded by the Supreme Committee to Supervise the National Strategy, and coordinated by the Executive Office to Combat Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism. This collaborative effort involves various agencies, committees, and work teams from supervisory and law enforcement authorities, all working to enhance the national system's effectiveness and sustainability in combating these financial crimes.

Hamid Al Zaabi, the Director General of the Executive Office to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, emphasized the UAE's dedication to transparency, international cooperation, and continuous improvement in tackling financial crime. He stated, "Our annual report for 2023 demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to these principles, reflecting our ongoing efforts to combat financial crime and support the robustness of our financial and economic systems."
