(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. The US stronglysupports the efforts made by Azerbaijan and Armenia to reach peace,Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesman of the US State Departmentsaid during a briefing, Trend reports.
"We strongly support efforts by Armenia and Azerbaijan to reacha durable and dignified peace, and we stand ready to continue tohelp facilitate this process," he said.
Previously, the US State Department Spokesman Matthew Millernoted that the US is happy to play whatever role it can tofacilitate a dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
"When the Secretary has communicated with the leaders of bothArmenia and Azerbaijan, he has made clear that there needs to be adialogue between the two parties," he pointed out.
Earlier, on January 4, 2024, Armenia forwarded its version ofthe peace treaty text to Azerbaijan. In February, Azerbaijanprovided additional proposals for the peace treaty to Armenia. Thenegotiations on the peace treaty text are underway directly betweenBaku and Yerevan.
