Mumbai, Aug 24 (KNN) Maharashtra's deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis urged Japanese companies to set up their manufacturing units in state.

The deputy CM said that the state has been a favourite destination for Japanese investment, be it for infrastructure or private businesses.

Fadnavis, who is currently on a five-day Japan tour met with industrialists from Kyoto, Osaka and Kansai.

During an interactive session with industrialists from Kyoto, Osaka and Kansai, Fadnavis said,“In the past nine years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the relationship between India and Japan has reached a new height. Japanese industrialists have great opportunities in Maharashtra. Our state is the number one destination in foreign direct investment.”

He appealed to Indian diaspora to use their contacts to tell Japanese businesses to establish units in Maharashtra.

The deputy CM said that the frequency of flights between Mumbai and Japan will increase when the Navi Mumbai international airport becomes operational, helping business partners and investors.
