Church Of Moscow Patriarchate Burned Down In Chernihiv Region


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In the village of Khalyavyn, in the Chernihiv district, at night on August 20, unknown persons set fire to the Church of the Holy Trinity, a church belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

This was reported to Ukrinform by village elder Alla Lisova.

"The church belongs to the Moscow Patriarchate. No arson threats were received. People woke up and saw the fire around 2 am. A canister was lying nearby. Unidentified persons poured gasoline on the church door and set it on fire," said the elder.

According to her, the ceiling of the church is reinforced concrete, so the main structures have withstood. However, the community will have to make a lot of effort to restore the church.

According to the village elder, there were no special valuables in the church, and there were no threats to set the church on fire. Everything that happened came as a complete surprise to the locals.

As reported, a church of the Moscow Patriarchate burned down at night in the town of Horodenka in the Carpathian region.
