(MENAFN- KNN India) NIIST inks MoU with Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board to promote local products

Thiruvananthapuram, July 27 (KNN) The CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST) inks MoU with Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board to promote locally produced products from the state.

The partnerships aims to promote employment generation through value addition in regional resources. The programme involves value addition in regional produces/crops such as honey, jackfruit, paddy, mango and banana, and waste treatment solutions for khadi and village industries in the state.



Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, Board vice chairman P. Jayarajan, Board secretary K. A. Ratheesh, and C. Anandharamakrishnan, director, NIIST, were amongst those present at the event.

This initiative will help in capacity building and empowering the people of Kerala connected with agriculture, MSMEs, SHGs, etc.

Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board is a statutory body vested with the responsibility of organizing and promoting Khadi and Village Industries in the State.

The Board implements the programmes through co-operative, registered institutions, individuals and departmental units by imparting/ availing assistance from Government of Kerala, Khadi Commission and Nationalized Banks.
