Ukraine's Counteroffensive Would Go Faster With Atacms Ex-Lithuanian Fm Linkevičius

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas Linkevičius, believes the Ukrainian counteroffensive would have developed at a higher pace if the USA had provided Ukraine with ATACMS to destroy Russian military bases on Ukrainian territory.

The diplomat wrote about this on twitter , Ukrinform reports.

"Ukraine is dangerously low on all types of ammunition. This makes the counteroffensive difficult, bloody and long. No Russian military bases in Ukraine would be safe if the US gave them ATACMS. The Pentagon stubbornly repeats that Ukraine doesn't need them. Who is right??" the tweet says.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, commenting on the enemy's attacks in Odesa, said that in order to deprive the enemy of the opportunity to shell peaceful cities, Ukraine needs more anti-missile systems, as well as long-range ATACMS.

H.Res. 488 with a call to the Biden administration to provide Ukraine with ATACMS missiles was tabled in the U.S. Congress in the first half of June. The text of the document emphasizes the need to provide Ukraine with long-range capabilities immediately, while maintaining the combat readiness of the United States.

Deputy Minister of Defense Volodymyr Havrylov stated that in order to achieve victory over the Russian invaders, the Defense Forces of Ukraine need long-range, high-precision weapons.
