Mine Explosion Kills 3 Children, Injures 3 Others In Afghanistan's Faryab

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Three children were killed, and three others were injured after a mine exploded in the Faryab province of Afghanistan, according to local officials on Monday.

According to the provincial director for information and culture, Shamsullah Mohammadi, a group of children discovered a toy-like device in the Khwaja Sabz Posh district of Faryab province on Sunday afternoon and started playing with it. Still, the device exploded, killing three children and injuring three others.

The report said the injured children were taken to the provincial hospital for medical treatment.

A similar incident occurred a few weeks ago in Wardak province of Afghanistan, killing one person.

Meanwhile, according to a recent UN report, a significant level of civilians have been killed and injured in attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover, despite a sharp reduction in casualties compared to previous years of war and insurgency.

The UNAMA in Afghanistan said that 3,774 civilians were injured, including 1,095 fatalities, due to violence in the country between August 2021 and the end of May 2023.

The people killed or injured due to the country's remaining explosion devices are also included in the report.

Afghanistan is contaminated with explosive devices due to four decades of conflict, which has killed and injured thousands of Afghan nationals, including children and women.
