Valeriy Shershen, the spokesperson for the joint press center of the defense forces of Tavria direction, said this during the United News telethon.
"After the situation in and around Bakhmut, Maryinka remains hot spot number two. It is confirmed once again that the enemy will continue to focus its main efforts on attempts to completely occupy Luhansk region. More than 40 combat engagements took place over the past day. In the operational zone of the defense forces of Tavria direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive operations in Andriyivka direction, holds the active defense in Zaporizhzhia region, namely in Novopavlivka and Orikhiv directions. Here the enemy is waiting for our offensive. It focuses its main efforts to keep its units in constant combat readiness, continues fortifying its lines and positions, arranges mine fields," the spokesman said.
He added that the enemy fired on Ukrainian positions in Zaporizhzhia region 122 times and in Donetsk region 275 times over the past 24 hours.
In Donetsk region, the enemy carried out assaults with the intention of capturing the strongholds of the first echelon. Using tanks, MLRS, and tube artillery, the enemy shelled the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements bordering the contact line. To adjust artillery fire, the enemy uses drones, one of which was destroyed at night.
According to the spokesperson, in general, the defenders of Tavria direction confidently hold their defense. Missile and artillery units performed more than 1,440 fire missions over the past day.
"The losses of the enemy killed and wounded in Tavria direction amount to more than three companies. Moreover, 55 units of enemy weapons and military equipment were destroyed and damaged. Last night, six tanks, IFVs, armored personnel carriers were destroyed," Shershen said.
According to him, in Avdiyivka direction, the enemy made an unsuccessful attempt to assault Avdiyivka, as well as the adjacent Sieverne and Nevelske.
In Maryinka direction, the Ukrainian troops repelled numerous enemy attacks in the area of Maryinka. Estimated losses of the invaders in this direction alone amounted to about 70 killed and more than 100 wounded over the past day. Seventeen units of enemy equipment were destroyed.
