Qatar's Burgeoning Film, Creative Industry Establishes the Country on Global Stage


(MENAFN) The creative industry in Qatar has gained global recognition thanks to the homegrown talent that drives this new wave of change, according to Doha Film Institute (DFI) CEO Fatma Hassan Alremaihi. During the institute's Ramadan Gabqa event held for the creative community in the country, Alremaihi expressed her gratitude to filmmakers, artists, and guests, highlighting their dedication and passion in contributing to the growth of Qatar's creative industry.

Alremaihi emphasized that DFI is committed to fostering the artistic endeavors of Qatari talents who showcase their distinctive methods of filmmaking and narratives that move the globe with their prowess. The event showcased posters and still photos from films made by local artists mentored and supported by DFI through various initiatives, including film financing, Qumra, and training and development programs.

Alremaihi expressed her pride and delight in witnessing the successful development of Qatar's creative community that DFI has nurtured and developed over the past 14 years. She referred to some of the films that have contributed to Qatar's global recognition, including "10%" by Yousef Al Madadi, "Maryam" by Zainab Mohammed Ayon, "9956" by Zaki Hussain, and "F-57" by Abdulanaser Hassan Al Yafei, among others.

The CEO acknowledged each filmmaker and artist, noting that their commitment and viewpoint had brought Qatar's creative industry to the forefront and secured a place in the global stage. She urged the artists to continue their hard work and creativity in telling their authentic stories and assured them of DFI's support in their creative journey.

The Ramadan Ghabqa event was attended by several officials from the DFI, Qatar Museums, along with other government officials and personalities, including the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Secretary General, Hassan Al Thawadi.

The Doha Film Institute is dedicated to fostering film appreciation, education, and the development of a dynamic film industry in Qatar. The institute focuses on nurturing regional storytellers while being entirely global in its scope. The creative industry in Qatar has established itself on the world stage, and it continues to grow and attract attention from around the globe.
