King Charles leads Easter service at Windsor Castle with senior royals in attendance

(MENAFN) King Charles and other senior members of the British Royal family attended the traditional Easter service on Sunday at Windsor Castle, marking the first such event of his reign. The King was joined by his wife Camilla, his son and heir Prince William, Prince Andrew, and other family members. The family walked from the castle to St. George’s Chapel for the service. The event was particularly poignant this year as it was the first since the death of Queen Elizabeth and also fell on the second anniversary of her husband Prince Philip's death. Both are buried in the King George VI chapel at Windsor. Additionally, Sunday marked the 18th wedding anniversary of Charles and his second wife Camilla, who married in Windsor in 2005.

As the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Charles is the symbolic head of the church. However, there have been reports of disagreements between the monarch and church leaders over the role of other faiths in his coronation, which will take place on May 6. According to the Mail on Sunday newspaper, discussions over the coronation's Order of Service have been delayed due to the disagreements. However, sources have denied that there is any delay and both Buckingham Palace and the Church have stated that details will be released in due course.
